Addiction Treatment Program Tailored to Your Needs

When getting sober you ultimately have to learn to make an alternative world that interests you, engages you, and that you’re passionate about. One that allows you to discover another dimension to life other than the one of substances.

We created our therapeutic transitional living program structure with the mindset that everybody’s recovery path usually looks different from one another’s. Our job is to pay close attention to the details and nuances of your goals, needs, and desires so you have the best chance of achieving a sober life.

We believe one of the greatest keys to success in recovery is having a sustained personal routine that you are comfortable with and can incorporate into your daily life. The goal is to help you find a routine that will build a foundation for your future.

The Little Beach House Transitional Living program offers a comprehensive long-term lower-level Partial Hospitalization option, featuring continuous outdoor, experiential, and somatic treatment modalities coupled with intensive individual therapy sessions. Clients at this level of care actively participate in educational pursuits, work opportunities, career development endeavors, and meaningful volunteer work. Our model focuses on developing skills in time and task management, financial literacy, and fostering enduring relationships with peers.

Our program is dedicated to supporting clients in their journey towards personal recovery, including ongoing mental health and trauma-related goals. Participants prioritize the cultivation of meaningful connections within the Little Beach House community and are encouraged to establish stronger relationships within the broader recovery network. Understanding that men bond most effectively through shared experiences, our program promotes a pursuit of joy through engaging outdoor and physical activities.

Furthermore, our bi-monthly experiential community retreats provide individuals with the opportunity to envision and experience the life they aspire to achieve in recovery. The program is designed to empower attendees to embrace their masculinity, guiding them to embody stature as stand-up, respectful, and confident men in order to evolve into their best selves. By doing so, participants can become pillars within their community and provide support for their loved ones.

Our program as a whole is 9-12 months in length and is broken up into 4 phases. Phase 1-3 is done within our 90-day intensive transitional program.

PHASE 1-3: First 90 Days

During this initial phase, the program is dedicated to exploring and addressing maladaptive patterns, unhealthy behaviors, and negative coping mechanisms that participants may have adopted, while also delving into the understanding of their trauma or mental health challenges. Participants benefit from extensive support from their clinical team and our team of recovery coaches, who are readily available to assist with any issues or needs that may arise. Participants will actively get involved in the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous by working with a sponsor on the transformative 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and engage in a minimum of 5 AA meetings per week. Participants will adhere to our 3x weekly drug screening and daily breathalyzer test.

Psycho Therapy

A crucial element of this phase entails intensive collaboration with a clinician to identify and address any mental health challenges contributing to maladaptive patterns and negative behaviors associated with substance abuse. Each guest is required to complete 24 individual therapy sessions during the initial 90 days, establishing a long-term therapeutic relationship with their clinician to support them throughout the year-long program.

Psychiatry

Another crucial aspect of our program is ensuring that participants have access to a well-designed medication management plan overseen and administered by a licensed Medical Doctor. Our goal is to ensure that each individual maintains stability on medication and follows the correct protocol to prevent adverse side effects. To achieve this, each program attendee is required to see a Doctor weekly to bi-weekly during Phase 1, transitioning to monthly visits. We collaborate with specific Board-certified doctors who conduct a total of 7 sessions within the first 90 days.

Recovery Coaching

We provide a comprehensive therapeutic coaching program aimed at delivering personalized one-on-one support throughout Phase 1. Every individual will engage in our exhaustive therapeutic coaching program designed to assist them in addressing various crucial areas, such as:

  • Identifying both long-term and short-term goals
  • Goal setting and strategy development
  • Establishing daily routines and schedules
  • Encouraging timely wake-up practices
  • Providing fitness and health guidance
  • Offering cleanliness and organizational coaching
  • Advising on budgeting and saving strategies
  • Assisting with credit repair and building credit
  • Facilitating job placement opportunities
  • Supporting resume development
  • Providing decision-making guidance
  • Encouraging internal processing and self-reflection
  • Enhancing relationship-building skills
  • Repairing and strengthening family relationships

Experiential Therapies and Outdoor Adventure Activities

Incorporating adventure and experiential therapy into our program, we provide mandatory outdoor activities that foster physical health, teamwork, and self-discovery. These experiences empower clients to develop new skills and interests, enriching their overall path to recovery. All program attendees must actively participate in the diverse daily activities offered by the program. Some of these therapies might include:

  • Surf therapy
  • Nature therapy
  • Golf
  • Rock climbing
  • Mountain biking
  • Spear fishing/lobster diving

12-Step Work

At our program, we believe that the cornerstone of a fulfilling life lies in embracing the principles outlined within the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Whether individuals are grappling with substance abuse or facing other challenges, the 12 steps of AA have proven to be a transformative self-help program for millions. We mandate that each guest secures a sponsor and initiates the journey of working through the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Program attendees are required to engage in weekly meetings with their sponsor with the objective of completing the 12 steps of AA during Phase 1.

Employment Assistance

We are firm believers in the idea that a purposeful life centers around fulfilling one’s purpose. We motivate and guide our program attendees to explore job opportunities and career paths that align with their interests. Our aim is for program participants to secure employment by the conclusion of Phase 3, ensuring that they enter Phase 4 either employed or actively seeking employment. We view employment, whether part-time or full-time, as a catalyst for instilling purpose, confidence, independence, and valuable societal engagement. Clients are encouraged to start seeking employment after the initial 30 days, typically commencing work towards the end of the third month.

  • Month 1: Explore job paths and develop resumes
  • Month 2: Initiate job searches and attend interviews
  • Month 3: Actively engage in employment

Bi-monthly Expeditions

Every 6 to 8 weeks, our program embarks on an outdoor expedition as a collective group. These expeditions serve as powerful community-building exercises that strengthen bonds among individuals, creating enduring friendships and lasting memories. Additionally, these expeditions provide each program participant with the opportunity to explore new hobbies and interests. The Expedition Program offers a comprehensive approach to recovery by integrating the therapeutic benefits of nature, physical activity, adventure, camaraderie, and skill-building. Through embracing new challenges and immersing themselves in the natural environment, participants can cultivate a robust foundation for long-term sobriety and a rewarding life in recovery.

PHASE 4 - 6 to 9 Months Transitional Sober Living

Upon completing Phase 1-3, program attendees transition to our transitional sober living program, where they experience increased autonomy and fewer restrictions. The comprehensive work accomplished during Phase 1-3 ideally equips each individual stepping into our transitional sober living program with significant progress: they should have either completed or made substantial progress in the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, established a consistent meeting schedule, secured employment or be actively seeking it, maintained a healthy medication regimen, and developed a strong, enduring relationship with a psychotherapist for ongoing support during their stay in our transitional sober living program.

The objective of Phase 4 is to assist participants in establishing a personalized recovery routine that they can sustain while setting practical and achievable goals for the upcoming  months. It is recommended that each client in our sober living program engage with a recovery coach for 5 to 10 hours per week. Our mission is dedicated to helping program attendees discover their true selves, identify their interests, and envision their future aspirations. We encourage individuals to envision their life six months, one year, and three years from now, guiding them to implement the necessary choices and actions to realize these goals.

Upon completing our 1-year program, individuals are encouraged to secure housing in the local area, either near or within our community, to maintain connections and support networks established during their recovery journey.

The Little Beach House Internship Program

At our program, we prioritize hiring our dedicated alumni who embody the core values and principles that our program stands for. We offer an empowering internship program for clients with over 90 days of sobriety, providing them with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various areas of a substance abuse program. Our goal is to encourage our clients to become actively involved in our organization, contributing to our mission with their unique experiences and insights. By hiring from within, our alumni pass down their guiding principles to newly admitted clients, inspiring and empowering them on their journey to recovery. Our internship program equips clients with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively participate in and manage a treatment program.
