The Little Beach House exists because the gap between residential treatment and independent life is real — and most programs don’t close it. We do.

The Little Beach House 90 day treatment program was founded by Theren Raufmann– a man who started his own recovery journey in his teenage years and spent years searching for a program that treated him like a person, not a patient. He found pieces of what worked in different places — the structure of clinical treatment, the grounding effect of the outdoors, the power of living alongside other men who were doing the same work. But he never found a single program in Los Angeles that brought all of it together in a way that felt real.
So we built one.
Driven by the lack of long-term men’s treatment options in Los Angeles, Theren partnered with Cameron Raufmann and Andrew Eaton to pioneer a new approach to recovery. They built a 90-day experience designed to show men that a thriving life without substances is fully possible. The Little Beach House introduces clients to the best of California living, proving that a future they love is well within their grasp.
The Little Beach House is the result of years of lived experience, professional study, and a deep belief that men in recovery deserve more than a room and a schedule. They deserve a life worth choosing sobriety for. Venice Beach is not an accident — it is the point. The ocean, the neighborhood, the culture, the freedom — all of it is part of what we offer.
Today, the program continues to evolve. We are expanding our clinical programming, adding a dedicated treatment facility, and deepening our commitment to the kind of individualized, community-driven recovery that has always defined who we are.
Every decision we make at The Little Beach House comes back to a small set of beliefs we hold firmly about recovery, community, and what it means to help someone build a better life.
Staying sober is the foundation — but it is not the goal. The goal is a life so full and meaningful that sobriety is the obvious choice. Everything we do is oriented around helping men build that life.
The best recovery environments give people real responsibility within real boundaries. We believe accountability works best when it is paired with autonomy — not when it replaces it.

Peer relationships forged in early recovery are among the most powerful predictors of long-term sobriety. We build community intentionally — not as a side effect of shared housing, but as a core component of the program.
No two men arrive at The Little Beach House with the same history, the same needs, or the same goals. Our clinical team, our coaching, and our program structure are all built to adapt — not to fit everyone into the same mold.

The Little Beach House is a 90-day men’s treatment program located in Venice Beach, California. It combines structured clinical treatment with experiential living — giving men the support of a full program while experiencing the freedom and accountability of real life. It is a cash-pay program designed for men who are ready to do serious, sustained recovery work.
The program is designed for adult men who have completed detox or are medically cleared for treatment, are seeking a cash-pay option with individualized clinical care, and are committed to a 90-day program. It is not a detox, and it is not for individuals who require 24-hour medical supervision. It is best suited for men who are ready to work hard, live in community, and build something lasting.
Days are structured around clinical programming in the morning and experiential activities in the afternoon, with curfew and accountability check-ins in the evenings. Residents attend support group meetings at least three times per week, meet regularly with their recovery coach, and participate in bi-monthly outdoor expeditions. Phone and personal time are available within defined hours. The goal is a schedule that is structured enough to build discipline and open enough to build real life skills.
The process starts with a conversation. Reach out via the form on this page or by phone and a member of our team will respond within 24 hours. We will ask questions about your history, goals, and readiness for the program. If it seems like a good fit, we will walk you through next steps including a tour, a clinical intake, and the logistics of your arrival.
Yes. All residents are subject to random drug testing throughout their stay. This is a requirement of residency and a cornerstone of the accountability structure that makes the community work.
It is a treatment program — not a sober living home. Residents receive 20 hours of weekly programming including individual therapy, psychiatric care, recovery coaching, and experiential activities. While residents live at the beach house, the program operates at the clinical level of an Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). This is a meaningful distinction: if you are looking for a room in a sober environment, this is not the right fit. If you are looking for structured clinical treatment with the feel of real life, it is.
The Little Beach House is a cash-pay program at the moment but we are working towards accepting insurance on a noiut of network basis . We do not bill insurance directly. Some clients work with their insurance providers to seek reimbursement for out-of-network treatment — our team can provide documentation to support that process upon request. Contact us to discuss your situation.
Yes. Family involvement is encouraged where it is healthy and appropriate for the resident’s recovery. Our clinical team can discuss family programming and communication guidelines during the admissions process.
Upon completing Phase 1, residents have the option to transition into Phase 2 — a sober living environment with increased autonomy and reduced programming requirements. Our team also supports residents in connecting with ongoing outpatient therapy, support groups, and community resources in Venice Beach or in their home area. Recovery does not end at 90 days — we help you plan what comes next.
Three support group meetings per week are required — but AA is not the only option. While the 12-step community is strongly encouraged, residents may attend any approved support group organization that aligns with their recovery path.
